Beasley’s Christmas Party at Taproot

Sometimes you should see a play because of the writing. Sometimes because of the costumes or plot.
You should see Beasley’s Christmas Party because of the brilliance. The actors play multiple parts, and the transitions are simply brilliant. The whole audience broke into applause on multiple occasions because of the fun surprise of perfect execution.
On one occasion, Aaron Lamb managed to change characters while laughing – the change was sudden, smooth and perfect. Amazing.
You won’t be disappointed by the plot and story either. Beasley’s Christmas Party is a beautiful feel-good Christmas story, much like a Hallmark special.
Taproot has done a great job with the set as usual, and the staging is even beyond the normal Taproot creativity.
My favorite part of the costumes as a single frumpy hat that transformed both Lisa Peretti and Frank Lawler into an old woman.
Frank is the narrator throughout the production. My husband remarked as we exited, “he had to memorize the whole play!”
It has been a couple years since I had the delight of seeing Lisa in a play or hear her sing. Lisa’s acting was extraordinary, her offstage voice delightful, and her short song before the production a real treat.
Don Brady was perfect, playing Mr. Beasley, the editor, and a local reporter; each to perfection.
Really – if you need a get away, or just want to see a perfect play, you will want to stop by Taproot before Beasley’s Christmas Party ends December 30.
